Kadaster supports poverty reduction Secure rights to land
and buildings is a prerequisite for wellfare and prosperity. This is the main
focus on the official celebration of Kadaster's 175 annversary, that takes place
in the famous Hall of Knights in The Hague. On Tuesday November 13th,
national and international speakers will present their view on how the world
might look at in 25 years from now. Her Majesty the Queen will be guest of
honour.
Driven by its social responsibility, Kadaster aims at contributing to welfare
and prosperity in countries where land administration still might develop
further. Since about 15 years this international cooperation with countries who
ask for help, evolves. At date, about 50 projects were implemented, in good
coordination with the private- and public sector, and universities. The jubilee
event will elaborate on the issue of poverty reduction, economic growth and land
administration and its importance.
Kadaster registers and informs... Kadaster, or the Dutch
Land Registry Office, collects information about registered properties in the
Netherlands, records them in public registers and in cadastral maps and makes
this information available to members of the public, companies and other
interested parties in society. Registered goods include not only immoveable
properties, such as houses and apartments, but also moveable properties such as
ships and aircraft. Put simply: Kadaster registers and informs; details are the
input and information is the output.
Self-administering state body Registering, informing,
maintaining records and usage planning have been the tasks of Kadaster since
1832. To enable Kadaster to better perform all of those tasks, it became what is
known as a 'Self-Administering State Body' in 1994. This means that Kadaster is
a legal entity under public law which performs its tasks as an independent
organisation.
