Kadaster at World Bank Land Conference

Kadaster will participate in the World Bank Land Conference in Washington DC in May. The theme of the conference is: Securing Land Tenure and Access for Climate Action.

Kadaster is actively involved in this interactive week by presenting our international experiences and by co-hosting 1 of the Global Land Initiative sessions. In this session on the importance of standards in land management we will initiate a conversation on how standards like the Land Administration Domain Model (LADM) and Social Tenure Domain Model (STDM) can:

  • help people secure their land rights
  • provide governments with structures that improve their policies for climate-resilient land use planning
  • help governments adapt to migration flows

Sharing experiences

The conference will discuss the latest developments in land administration standards. Several national agencies and responsible ministries will also share their experiences with using LADM and the added value of using these standards.

Climate resilience tool

We will present our international experiences in multiple sessions. For example in a session on how tenure responsive Land Use Planning can be utilized as a climate resilience tool. Here, public participation and building a good data infrastructure are key elements in aligning spatial planning with climate-proof policy.

We look forward to meeting our network in Washington, and to working together to secure land tenure and access to climate action on a larger scale.
