FIG Working Week 2020 shows resilience
Learn about latest insights
The Dutch Local Organising Committee, FIG and GIM International decided to join forces. They organized a “FIG Working from Home Week”. This gave the global geo-spatial community an impression of all the papers, presentations and other activities that had been prepared for the FIG Working Week 2020. The initiative gives everyone the opportunity to learn more about the latest insights on Smart Surveying techniques, Integrated Land and Water Management and the importance of geo-information in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Importance of securing land rights
Secure land rights play a key role in achieving the SDGs. We believe that especially in times of travel restrictions, it is therefore important to keep sharing knowledge and experiences. By doing this we are able to meet challenges such as urbanisation and climate change. A sound land registration is an instrument for economic development, improvement of living conditions, and managing (unpredictable) crisis such as COVID-19.
Share knowledge online
Kadaster is one of the main supporters of the FIG Working Week 2020. We are proud that through the alternative Working Week platform, valuable contributions have been unlocked and shared. This has proven that knowledge can be shared online. We are committed to apply knowledge and skills regarding land registration, land consolidation and geographic information in countries that have need for them, also in times like these.
