Next phase of Kadaster support to the National Directorate of Land in Mozambique

Through a contract with the Ministry of Land, Environment and Rural Development (MITADER), Kadaster is supporting the National Directorate of Land (DINAT) and the regional offices (SPGC’s) in Mozambique with technical and organisational advice since February 2018.

The embassy of the Netherlands in Maputo is closely involved in the Mozambican land programme (Terra Segura) and therefore also very much involved in our project.

It is the Government’s ambition to secure 5 million land rights by the end of 2025. To achieve this ambitious goal, innovative procedures have to be tested and implemented.  In June 2018, first field tests started and will contribute to finding the best ‘Fit-For-Purpose’ approach. This approach aims on getting the land information using a minimum of time, with low costs and acceptable quality.
Results from the field tests will be compared with actual procedures and will result in a sustainable land administration system. From August 2018, first registered rights will be visible and official certificates will be issued, securing existing people to land relationships.

Besides the technical and IT-support, Kadaster International is a partner in building the sustainable Land Administration Organisation needed. The focus is on strategic and operational planning and building sustainable service level agreements with suppliers in the land administration field.
