During that visit, the Director of Kadaster International, Kees de Zeeuw, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gabriel Triwibawa, Director Planning and Cooperation of the Indonesian Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning (ATR/BPN).
Complete land registration
The MoU is the start of a cooperation between the two agencies with the ultimate aim to speed up land registration in Indonesia. The Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning in Indonesia has set the target to complete land registration for the whole country by 2025. Currently, only 35% of the country is covered.
Fit for purpose
In the coming period, several Fit-For-Purpose methods will be investigated on how to reach this target. The ‘Fit for purpose’ approach means that land administration in less developed countries should be cheap, fast and designed to meet the people’s needs. For instance, by simplifying the standards for surveying, making it more easy and less expensive, and by using crowdsourcing to collect data.
