Palestinian Territories: Supporting land right during conflict
The West Bank faces significant political and administrative complexities. Overlapping governance frameworks between Israeli and Palestinian authorities complicate land ownership, planning, and resource management. This leads to uncertain land and water rights for Palestinians, undermining the livelihoods of local communities.
To address these challenges the Dutch Shiraka programme supports a project implemented by Kadaster International. The project helps strengthen land governance and enhances tenure security for land and water resources in the West Bank.
Land administration has become extremely hard in the Palestine Territories, due to all kinds of legal and illegal security constraints. Our project is trying to support the Palestinian government in further digitizing the property registration and mapping of the ownership rights of Palestinians.
Strengthening governance through collaboration
The Netherlands has extensive experience in water and land governance. Through the project “Strengthening governance and public service delivery in land and water resources tenure security” we contribute our expertise in land administration, data management, surveying, mapping and integrated land-water governance.
With the support of the Netherlands, through Kadaster, we continue to implement land settlement initiatives despite ongoing settlement challenges, with the aim of safeguarding our people’s ownership rights and protecting their land.
